-
- USAGE:
- ------
-
- This product is being distributed as Shareware. Under this concept you
- may use the SHAREWARE (unregistered) version for a reasonable period of
- time for evaluation after which you should either register your copy
- or discontinue usage.
-
-
- DISTRIBUTION:
- -------------
-
- You are encouraged to distribute Lotto Mania! provided that all
- files contained in the archive are distributed in their original and
- unmodified state.
-
-
- DESCRIPTION:
- ------------
-
- Lotto Mania! is a BBS Door game that can be used on ANY BBS which creates a
- DOOR.SYS file. Lotto Mania! allows callers to play the Lottery, buy Scratch
- Tickets, and wager on a variety of Sporting Events. All with the ultimate
- goal in mind to reach 200,000 points and become Top Dog of the game.
-
-
- REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
- -------------------------
-
- There are a couple of ways in which you can Register Lotto Mania! and
- recieve your individual key file, which will allow the program to operate in
- FULL Registered mode. Look for details on how to do this in the file:
- REGISTER.FRM included with this archive.
-
-
- SHAREWARE VS REGISTERED:
- ------------------------
-
- The SHAREWARE version of Lotto Mania! has a few limitations as opposed to
- the REGISTERED version. Other than a pause going into the program and out of
- the program, in the REGISTERED version the Sysop can also set the amount of
- Lotto Plays, Scratch Tickets, and Sports Wagers per day. The delay is
- disabled when you register your copy of Lotto Mania! and you will also be
- able to set the number of Lotto Plays, Scratch Tickets, and Sports Wagers when
- you register and you recieve your individual key file. A High Score Bulletin
- is also written when you Register your copy of Lotto Mania! This is not in
- place to be annoying, just to encourage Registration of the product to cover
- the cost of programming time and support. Future versions, updates, and
- support of Lotto Mania! are yours FREE with Registration.
- PLAYERS CAN WIN THE GAME IN THE UNREGISTERED VERSION AS WELL AS THE REGISTERED
- VERSION!
-
-
- INSTALLATION:
- -------------
-
- Installation of Lotto Mania! is very simple. The first thing you
- should do is unzip the entire archive into whichever directory you plan
- to operate Lotto Mania! from(If you're reading this, then you've done that!).
-
- Run the included INSTLOTT.EXE. This will install Lotto Mania! Basically
- what this program does is get the needed information for your lottoma.cfg
- file. This program will ask you for the FULL path to your Door.sys file,
- the BBS name, Sysop name, how many Lotto Plays allowed per day, Scratch
- Tickets per day, and Sports Wagers per day. All of the plays will default to
- 3 in an Unregistered Version of Lotto Mania! by hitting enter after each
- question here. If you have Registered your copy of Lotto Mania!, you can
- set these last options to whatever you want. I recommend somewhere between
- 5-15. Otherwise the game will be over quickly and some may tire of the game
- quite easily, having so much to do in one session.
-
-
- That's it! Now you're ready to run Lotto Mania! on your BBS!
-
- **************************IMPORTANT*************************
- MAKE SURE TO READ ON TO (UP AND RUNNING)
- LATER IN THIS DOCUMENT
-
-
- RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
- --------------------
-
- This part is basically up to you. Depending on which BBS program you are
- running, the .bat file may look a little different. Refer to your BBS
- Manual for information on running Doors from your BBS. We will use a
- sample .bat file which would run Lotto Mania! from a Wildcat System:
-
- DOOR10.BAT
- ==========
-
- CD\DOORS\LOTTO
- LOTTOMA LOTTOMA.CFG
- CD\WC40
-
-
- If you would like to test Lotto Mania! before putting it up on the BBS,
- you can run it locally at any time by typing LOCAL after the call line at
- the Dos Prompt:
-
- EX: LOTTOMA LOTTOMA.CFG LOCAL
-
-
-
- FOSSIL DRIVER SUPPORT:
- ----------------------
-
- Lotto Mania! also supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell it to use
- the Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the
- command line when running the door. For example:
-
- LOTTOMA LOTTOMA.CFG /FD
-
- indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
- driver is detected, Lotto Mania! will print a message to that effect
- and exit back to the BBS gracefully. *Please Note: No fossil driver is
- needed to run this door. If you are operating on standard com ports and
- irq's, then use of the fossil driver is not really needed.
-
-
- ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES:
- ----------------------
-
- Lotto Mania! supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4
- and COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
- number after the configuration filename. Let's assume you want to use COM1
- and IRQ5. The command line passed in the .BAT file would be:
-
- LOTTOMA LOTTOMA.CFG /5 or
- LOTTOMA LOTTOMA.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
-
- The /5 tells Lotto Mania! to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
- is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
-
-
- ****UP AND RUNNING:****
- ---------------
-
- Once Lotto Mania! is up and running it should basically take care of itself
- and will require no maintenance from you. Instructions on using the game
- are in the Door itself and are pretty self explanatory.
-
- Users are given the amount of Lotto Plays, Scratch Tickets, and Sports Wagers,
- that you have set when you install the game(If it is REGISTERED!).
- Otherwise they are given the default of 3 plays per. They start out with
- $1000 in their bank account and are given another $1000 for each new day they
- go into the door.
-
- Lotto Mania! also creates a HIGH SCORE BULLETIN(If it is Registered!)that
- you can add to your BBS Bulletin Menu. Lotto Mania! creates an ascii and
- and ansi bulletin each time a user leaves the door. The ascii bulletin is
- LOTTOMA.BLT and the ansi bulletin is LOTTOMAG.BLT. Notice the added "G" on
- the end of the ansi bulletin! You can rename and move these simply by putting
- the commands in the same .bat file that calls Lotto Mania!. Here's what my
- .bat file looks like for running Lotto Mania! on my system:
-
- cd\doors\lotto
- lottoma lottoma.cfg
- ren lottomag.blt bull10.bbs <- Renames the file!
- move bull10.bbs c:\wc40\bull <- Moves it to the proper directory!
- cd\wc40
-
- This particular .bat file renames the ansi bulletin to bull10.bbs and then
- moves it to my Wildcat bulletin directory. Since Wildcat does not need an
- acsii version of the bulletin, I don't bother doing anything with the ascii
- version created. If your BBS type needs the ascii version, you could rename
- IT and move it just as easily!
-
- Also included in this archive you will find LOTT-AD.ANS. This can be put up
- as a logon screen telling your users that Lotto Mania! has arrived on your
- BBS and to try it out today!
-
- You can RESET the whole game by using the included file resetlm.exe.
- This will delete the player file, and the High Score files. If you have
- recently REGISTERED your copy of Lotto Mania! and you would like to change
- the default values for Lotto Plays, Scratch Tickets, and Sports Wagers, then
- run the instlott.exe program again. This will allow you to reset the
- lottoma.cfg file automatically.
-
- That's it....Have fun and enjoy Lotto mania!
-
-
- 486DX CPU's:
- ------------
-
- The math coprocessor in 486DX CPUs cannot handle floating point math which
- all MicroSoft Basic's use. This can show up as an ERROR 5, a keyboard
- timeout, etc.
-
- Fortunately there is an easy fix for this problem. Simply place the following
- line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
-
- SET NO87=ON
-
-
-
- ERRORS & PROBLEMS:
- ------------------
-
- Most errors will come from the .cfg file not having enough lines or not
- having the needed information. Make sure when you run the instlott.exe
- program that you answer all the questions and provide the neccessary
- information. If Lotto Mania! can't find your Door.sys file, it will most
- certainly generate a file not found error or error reading system file. Be
- sure to include the FULL PATH like this at the first question prompt..
- c:\wc40\wcwork\node1\door.sys...of course make sure to change it to wherever
- YOUR Door.sys file resides.
-
-
